Chapter 968

Seeing how insistent Horton was, | did not refuse and followed him to the third floor.

The private room was full of ladies from our department, so Horton left after takingthere.

The ladies askedto select a song. | was terrible at singing, but since | had joined the company, | thought |

should not spoil the fun. Hence, | chose a song with a simple tune and hummed along to the tune as much as |

could.

After the song, | sat on the sofa and the female colleague sitting besideasked me, "Did you bring a charger,

Wanda?”

| glanced at the phone in her hand and figured that her phone must have run out of battery. | nodded with a

smile, "I did, but it's in my bag in the changing room. I'll go get it for you if you need it.”

She quickly shook her head. "It's fine. How can | ask you to get it forwhen I'm the one borrowing your

charger? Just givethe number tag. I'll go down and get it myself."

There was nothing important in my bag, so | gave her the tag and told her to go get it herself.

None of the ladies in the room could sing, but none of

them cared if they sang out of tune. They were mainly there to vent their emotions.

| pulled out my phone to take a look and planned to go hafter seeing that it was getting late.

"There's a show at 12. Why don't you go back after that?" One of the female colleagues tried to makestay.

| refused with a smile. "I can’t stay up late. | have to go back and sleep. Have fun, girls."

One could typically spend up to a thousand dollars here if they calone. Hence, those who frequented this

place were normally those who were more financially capable. Ordinary employees like us could not actually

afford to spend money at places like this.

Now that the company was paying for everyone to have fun, they made sure to get the most out of it before

leaving the place.

As soon as | left the hotel, two women stopped me.

They were both wearing working attire and looked elegant. At one glance, one could tell that they were white-

collar workers in high positions.

| looked at them with a face full of questions. "How can | help you?"

"We're lawyers of Linda Corporations. We suspect that you've stolen the company's top secrets, so you need t o

cwith us to assist in our investigation," one of the women said coldly.

| frowned. "Do you have any evidence?”

Another woman snorted and snatched my bag away, catchingoff guard.

"What are you doing?” | tried to snatch it back but the other woman stopped me.

The woman pulled out a document from my bag, a document which I had no recollection of whatsoever.

She looked atand sneered, saying, "This is the evidence."

| took a deep breath and forced myself to stay calm." This isn't mine."

"Why is it in your bag if it isn't yours?”

| immediately thought of the female colleague who borrowed the charger fromand had a vague sense that

this was a conspiracy aimed entirely at me.

The woman with my bag lifted her chin and said in a domineering tone, "I suggest you cwith us. This won't

be as easy to handle once we call the cops.”

"lI can cwith you.” | looked coldly at her. "But only after | see my lawyer."

Another woman sneered and said, "We don't have tto wait for your lawyer."

As soon as they said that, two men who looked like bodyguards got out of a car behind them.

| chuckled bitterly in my heart. It seemed like | had no choice but to go with them.

"After you," the woman said in a cold voice.
