When Nadia told Candice about the situation, she couldn’t help but curse, “Truly stupid and malicious.

Candice’s face turned paler.

Yvonne and Ivor were still in custody. Jackson and Hanley, along with others, had been accompanying

Candice for several days.

“Candice, I know you’re feeling upset, but you can’t stop eating,” Jackson said, holding a thermos in his

hands. He looked at Candice with a sigh, “This is a soup made at home. At least have a little.

She replied, “Leave it there; I’ll drink it later.”

This excuse had been used for several days, and each time, the things left there hadn’t been

touched much.

Before Jackson could say more, his phone rang. Glancing at it, he furrowed his brows lightly.

Soon, he handed the thermos to Hanley next to him, “You watch her eat a bit. I need to take this

call.”

With that, he left in a hurry. Hanley directly poured half a bowl of soup in front of Candice.

Last night, the weather forecast had predicted rain for today, but until now, the sky remained clear.

Candice wore a long black dress, holding two bunches of flowers. One was placed in front of Joe’s

tombstone, and the other was placed in front of a nearby tombstone.

His grave had already been selected right next to Candice’s grandmother.

Candice didn’t notice her until she heard a voice calling her. “Ms. Renault?”

recognized Nina. “Ms. Burgess.”

She raised her eyebrows and continued, “It’s a little bit unexpected.”

“Nothing surprising.” Candice had no energy to engage in verbal disputes with Nina. She replied in

a low voice and was about to leave.

Nina smiled. “It’s quite good. At the very least, after I get engaged to Alex, he shouldn’t mind that

much.”

Candice’s eyelashes sank.

When she was in Stugan City, Ava had shown obvious intentions to match Nina and Alex. Moreover,

Candice recalled the night of knocking and window–breaking, remaining silent for a moment.

rolled down.

When she had walked over, her expression was absent–minded, and she hadn’t noticed this car

just now.

Alex’s profile was stern, his hand casually resting on the steering wheel. He glanced over at her, his

eyes showing a hint of impatience.

Candice was momentarily stunned, and her gaze collided with Alex’s, but it was just a moment before

she quickly looked away.

His eyes narrowed slightly as he casually tapped the steering wheel twice with his fingertip. His taut

jawline was clear, and he lifted his chin slightly. Dark emotions surged in his black eyes. making it hard

to discern what he was thinking.

Seeing Alex reminded Candice of what she had heard from Nina about the engagement between

her and Alex.

Evidently, he was here to accompany Nina and Ava.

Alex sneered, self–deprecatingly saying, “Is it because Nina is suitable, or is it because of her family

background?”

The furious voice cthrough the phone. Alex pinched his brow, raising his wrist just enough to block

his expression from the outside. “If there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up.”

Candice returned to Northdale but didn’t go hdirectly.

Instead, Hanley drove them to a temple.

He got out of the car first and then went around to Candice’s side, opening the car door and bending

down slightly, “I’ll take you somewhere.”
