The air in the office slightly solidified. Candice’s eyelids trembled before she slowly said, “It’s not about

negotiating terms, but discussing cooperation in a friendly manner.”

Alex raised an eyebrow slightly, his expression carrying a hint of coldness. “Negotiate? Candice,

I’ve just refused.”

“Or have you forgotten?” He stared expressionlessly at her as he said, “I never go back on things.

I’ve refused.”

As his words landed, her breath seemed to halt.

Something Alex didn’t want?

What else could it be beside her that he didn’t want.

She felt a pang in her heart, taking a while to organize the materials she’d brought. “I apologize,

Mr. Elysian. I’ve disturbed you.”

Alex’s gaze was chilling, his lips pursed tightly and his jawline defined as an aura of coldness

enveloped him.

He sneered, “Have you fallen to such a state to work for Hanley?”

The moment he mentioned Hanley, Candice’s movements quickened.

Alex’s expression grew even colder. Alongside his words, there was a subtle warning. “The

Baldwin family isn’t as simple as you think. I kindly advise you not to get too close to Hanley.”

Upon hearing this, she paused. “What do you know?”

He chuckled inexplicably as his fingers tapped on the desk casually.

His tone was light as he said, “Didn’t Hanley tell you? He’s been kicked out by the Baldwin family.

and they’re building a new heir. Otherwise, why would he run a small stuabroad?”

Alex’s expression seemed to smirk. “Candice, it’s a pity. You’re trying so hard but have grabbed the

wrong opportunity.”

Candice didn’t know much about Hanley’s situation, only inferring from occasional conversations with

Yana that Hanley’s relationship with his family wasn’t good.

Seeing her silence, Alex’s eyes flashed with a dark glint. He was about to speak when she looked

She had lost weight recently, but her skin was still fair. The dusk light from the window fell on her face,

emphasizing her determined features.

She gazed at Alex, and her lips curved up slightly. “I never intended to cling to anyone. I don’t need you

to say anything about Hanley. Alex, your high and mighty attitude is truly distasteful.”

With that, Candice packed her belongings. As she left the office, she breathed out quietly, “I’ve left the

data for Burning Star Stuand Dream Search. You can verify with Sawyer. If Mr. Elysian is willing, we

are still very open to collaboration.”

After that, she left the office.

Sonia was upstairs. Candice walked out without acknowledging her, greeted Sawyer, and left.

When she was leaving, it was tto clock out, and she coincidentally met Kayla.

Kayla looked sluggish but becspirited when she saw Candice. She smiled and greeted, Candice,

do you want to have dinner together?”

Candice agreed after a moment of consideration. She messaged Nadia and Hanley, then drove Kayla

to a nearby restaurant.

Kayla sighed, “When you were here, everything was organized. I feel like I didn’t need to use my brain

at work.”

“How is that possible?”

“It’s true. You don’t know that when you were away for a few days, the secretary’s office changed

several times. It finally settled with Winnie as the secretary.”

Kayla complained incessantly. “At first, Sonia seemed eager to join the secretary’s office. You!

didn’t see how she acted, like an innocent little lotus flower.”

“She doesn’t know anything and blames others. A client left because of her mistake, yet she

insists it was Winnie’s fault.”

Candice’s forehead furrowed slightly, her expression unchanged. Before she left, the company was

already gossiping about Sonia taking over her position.

Kayla scoffed, “But she overestimated herself. She’s been transferred from the secretary’s office in less

than two days. Now, she doesn’t know what to do, doesn’t handle anything properly, and

wanders around like a ghost.”

Candice wasn’t very interested in Sonia’s matters. She invited Kayla for dinner mainly to gather

information about Aether Corporation and Webrews Group.

Even though Alex had made his attitude clear, Candice didn’t want to give up. Moreover, she never

expected him to agree immediately. But since Francis had been fired by Alex, there couldn’t be any

cooperation between them.

Which meant there should be other relationships between Francis and Aether Corporation.

After thinking for a while, Candice asked Kayla, “Is Aether Corporation planning a transformation

recently? They’ve teamed up with Dream Search.”

Kayla was clever and knew the reason for Candice’s visit from Winnie, plus, it wasn’t a secret. She was

willing to help Candice.

She lowered her voice, “Actually, we all feel like Mr. Elysian isn’t particularly interested in this

cooperation. Dream Search’s contract has been sent over a few times, but he rejected it every time.

This project is handled by the overseas department. Everything was agreed upon before it was

submitted. They say that better publicity will help them enter the market more effectively.”

What Kayla knew was in line with what Candice knew, but she found it somewhat unexpected that this

plan cfrom the overseas department. She used to work there, and Francis was also the manager

there at that time.

Candice was contemplating. She didn’t talk much to Kayla, finished dinner, and returned to the north of

the city.

The next morning, she received a call from Nadia. “Candice, our department has arranged a salon at

the Bloom Garden in the West of the city. Are you coming with us or will you con your own?

Even though Dream Search and Burning Star Stuwere in an altercation, the department still wished

for amicable cooperation between the two as that would ultimately maximize the benefits.

Candice said, “I’ll head over directly.”

Bloom Garden was a small farm focused on leisure and located on the outskirts.

When Candice arrived, Hanley and the others hadn’t arrived yet.

Staff members guided her to a leisure area, and she informed Hanley that she had arrived.

There was a sound of footsteps at the entrance again. Candice thought it was a staff member and

didn’t pay much attention.

That was until a repulsive voice sounded. “Candice, you look quite good.”

Candice’s brow furrowed coldly as she looked at Francis across from her, “Your complexion, on the

other hand, looks terrible. What deceitful thing have you done now?”

Francis’s face turned significantly darker, but beside him were other people from Webrews Group who

just sat down quietly with solemn expressions.

Candice sat in the meeting room for a while. Although Francis didn’t speak, his eyes occasionally

glanced at her.

This feeling was nauseating.

Feeling somewhat annoyed, she stood up and went outside.

The air in the outskirts was refreshing coupled with the beautiful facilities of Bloom Garden. Candice

looked at the distant pond, and that sense of annoyance slowly faded away.

But suddenly, a black car drove in from the entrance. She didn’t see the license plate but noticed the

color. She thought it might be Hanley and the others arriving.
