Chapter 717 Four Pillars: Four Rarities

"Four Rarities?" Hearing the name of the next trial he would have to complete, a slight frown appeared on Valyr's face.

"Since the voice mentioned that the second trial would involve forging, and the name of the trial is Four Rarities…"

"Does that mean that I have to forge equipment up to the Epic grade in rarity?"

With this thought lingering in his mind, the young man felt that it made quite a lot of sense.

After all, if one were to exclude the fact that plus modifiers in rarities existed, then the first four rarities were Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Epic respectively.

Of course, with his current level of skill in forging, it would not be too difficult for him to forge an Epic grade item to complete the trial.

After all, he had already forged quite a few items of the same grade in the past.

However, if a similar trial had appeared later down the line and was of a higher difficulty…

Valyr could not say for certain whether he would be able to pass that trial.

"With how strong the Gates of Enlightenment was in the opportunity I was given to look at, I wouldn't be surprised if something like the Trial of Five Rarities were to pop up somewhere down the line."

"I wouldn't even be surprised if they had the Trial of Six Rarities," muttered the young man to himself, shuddering at the thought.

Thankfully, the young man did not have to delve deep through his inferences about the trial any longer as the monotonous voice spoke up once more.

'In the world of forging, there are five rarities that could be said to be deeply connected to the world of mortals.'

'Those five rarities are none other than Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, and Legendary, in that order.'

'On the other hand, any rarity that exceeds Legendary are considered to be part of the world of forging for greater beings, beings whose level of might far exceed our own imagination.'

'A few mortals who stand at the pinnacle of the world of forging have touched upon this higher realm of forging a few times in the past, crafting items that have been given the rarity level of Mythic.'

'However, for a great portion of mortals, the realm of Mythic grade items are nigh impossible to reach. Of course, the same could be said for Legendary grade items.'

'With that, the mortals have instead devised a new rarity system that expands the first five rarities into 10, giving all mortal blacksmiths a more defined path towards the so-called higher realm of forging.'

Hearing these words from the monotonous voice, Valyr more or less understood what was about to go on, inwardly letting out a sigh of relief as the voice continued to speak.

'The Trial of Four Rarities correspond to the first four rarities of this new rarity system: Common, Common+, Uncommon, and Uncommon+.'

'In this trial, the first item you must forge should have a rarity of at least Common grade. After that, you must forge your second item, which should have a rarity of at least Common+ grade.'

'Following the progression, the last item you must forge should have a rarity of at least Uncommon+ grade, which marks your completion of the trial.'

'Similar to the previous trial, there is no limit to how much time you take. All that matters is the completion of the four items.'

'You have three minutes to prepare.'

"Alright."

Listening to the mechanics of the trial that were explained by the voice, Valyr let out yet another sigh of relief as he sat on the ground.

"I don't know why, but I feel like the second trial is easier than the previous one," muttered the young man to himself, letting out a faint chuckle.

After all, the confidence he had towards completing the second trial was already there, unlike the confidence that only came about after he had confirmed that his arquebus indeed had the might to kill a primitive humanoid in one shot.

Then again, with how many items he had forged in the past that started off at Rare grade, as well as the years of experience he had accumulated from forging in his past life…

How could he not be confident?

'The trial begins in 3… 2… 1…'

As the monotonous voice began to count down whilst he was still somewhat immersed in his thoughts, Valyr took a bit of time to stand up, only to feel the ground around him beginning to rumble.

Though, unlike the rumble that came about his manipulation of earth earlier, the rumble he currently felt was focused towards certain areas.

Rumble…

Deciding to distance himself from the rumbling, Valyr's eyes slightly widened in surprise after seeing a few things beginning to jut out the ground, taking on forms that he, as a blacksmith, was greatly familiar with.

'A workshop…'

In front of his very eyes, a workshop slowly rose from the ground and appeared in front of him, containing all of the tools and equipment he would possibly need to forge equipment.

Then, not long after, a couple more things began to jut out the ground, filling out the spots within the workshop that looked vacant at first.

The first thing that appeared after the workshop seemed to be a small cache of all the forging materials might need to complete the second trial.

After that, a few shelves containing small books and scrolls appeared to fill out the other gaps within the workshop, all of them containing what looked to be blueprints that would allow him to forge various items and equipment.

'The Gates of Awakening has definitely eliminated any other variable that might hamper one's completion towards the second trial.' Moving closer towards the workshop, Valyr began to go through all of the equipment he would begin to work with.

Familiarizing himself with each and everyone of them before beginning to make progress, the young man faintly smiled. 'At this point, the trial taker's skill in forging is the only variable that dictates whether or not one passes the next trial.'

"Huuu…"

Letting out a long and drawn-out sigh, Valyr took out the Hammer of Beginnings from his spatial bracelet and activated one of its various forms.

"[Breath of Calm]."

Whoosh!

Watching the crystals on the hammer's sides change color, the young man slightly grinned as he started a fire in the furnace.

"Alright."

"Let's begin."
