Chapter 133 – Cat Dad is Still a Thief!

Providence Song!

Xiaomao had used it against Karen a few hours ago. Although it had a long cool-down time of 24 hours, the Karmic Soul Stone reset all skills for him, enabling the ultimate skill.

The cultists stared at Xiaomao in a daze as they were charmed. Even Bush Cox, Meng Xin, Zhao Fan, and the weapon spirit were affected.

Xiaomao took a deep breath, contemplating what to do next.

He didn’t have much time as the charm status effect only lasted one minute!

‘That apostle is surely immune to the enslavement. The weapon spirit might be able to resist the skill, too. Hell, I don’t even have a retainer slot for a new slave, so the wombo-combo won’t work.’

As it might be impossible to enslave another NPC at the moment, Xiaomao decided to be creative.

“Zhao Fei, munya!”

Zhao Fei gazed at Xiaomao, “Wha’chu want?”

“Free all captives and let everybody go, munya!”

It was a tall call. In normal circumstances, Zhao Fei would have denied the request. However, he was temporarily charmed, so Xiaomao took the risks.

“Fine. Men! Stop the ritual, and release them!”

The cultists stopped what they were doing and released the 100 captured people from the crucifixes.

Xiaomao was surprised. The trick magically worked!

Still, the abnormal status could last only a short moment, and Xiaomao was aware of this fact. Thus, he came up with a new order.

“Tell your men to strip all their belongings to the ground, munya! You, too. Transfer the soul-bound weapon to me!”

Meng Xin and Bush Cox widened their eyes in astonishment. They turned to Zhao Fei and the cultists, seeing if their leader would comply to the absurd order.

“Sure. You heard him, peasants! Take off your clothes and drop your weapons!”

Without hesitation, the cultists and the priests dropped everything in their possession on the ground. Zhao Fei also did the same..

But he did something further than drop his items.

SWUA

Zhao Fei’s fingers stabbed into his belly and dug out a red gem. Then, he tossed it toward Xiaomao.

The catopus caught the pinky-sized ruby with his tentacles.

Proof of Soul Weapon Contract – Brainwashing Cane

Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt

This contract was formed between Zhao Fei and the artificial spirit of Brainwashing Cane. As long as it exists, nobody can steal the Cane of Brainwashing from Zhao Fei, and he can use the weapon regardless of the weapon requirements and restrictions.

However, if someone were to obtain the contract and override it with his blood, the ownership of the Cane of Brainwashing will be transferred to the blood owner.

Item Type: Contract Orb

Rarity: Legendary

Requirement: Qi 30,000,000

Effect: Ignore the equiping requirements of Brainwashing Cane.

*[?????? Instinct]: Even if you’re trying to bypass the requirement for using a godly weapon, your body has to be able to withstand the power of a weapon spirit.

*[Foresight]: You’re not strong enough to use this yet. However, Cernun might want it. Bring it to Magdalene to exchange for her goodies.

.

Xiaomao snickered and put the item in his inventory. The weapon spirit also vanished.

Although everything went according to Xiaomao’s plan, he only had less than one minute to free the captives. Because of the urgency, he flew down and called Meng Xin.

“Bush, and the sacrifices! Gather here, munya! We’re leaving here, quick! Grab your friend’s hand! Meng Xin, grab whatever Zhao Fei dropped and come here PRONTO, munya!”

Xiaomao ordered the captives to hold hands with each other. Bush and the 100 rag-clothed captives held their hands.

DING

The Providence Song’s ability expired.

Meanwhile, Meng Xin reacted the slowest, but he managed to snatch a ring, the long sword of Zhao Fei, and a bag full of spirit stones. He kicked the ground and rushed toward Xiaomao and Bush Cox.

Zhao Fei regained his senses and realized his mistake. He bellowed and instantly regenerated his lost right hand.

“DAMN YOU, STUPID CAT! GIVE ME BACK MY SOUL WEAPON!”

Meng Xin burst into laughter as he swung Zhao Fei’s long sword and cut through the priests and cultists.

Seeing how Meng Xin made his way to the group, Xiaomao hopped on Bush Cox’s shoulder.

“Grab someone’s hands, Meng Xin! I’ll teleport us out of here, munya!”

Xiaomao raised the defective staff of mass teleportation. Although his skills warned him not to rely on the teleport spell, he used it anyway.

Meng Xin managed to grab one of the captives’ hands, and the teleportation spell was activated.

WHOOSH

A magic circle appeared and pulled everybody that Xiaomao and his allies touched into the same blue dome. The giant magic orb covered Xiaomao and others inside and rapidly shrank until it disappeared from the B5 underground dungeon.

Zhao Fei ran to the place where Xiaomao and Meng Xin had stood earlier. He waved his hands as if he tried to claw the empty air in front of him.

Unfortunately, he hit nothing.

“DAMN CAT! I’LL HUNT YOU DOWN TO THE END OF THE EARTH!!”

.

DING

<Zhao Fei has deemed you as his mortal enemy. Current Hatred: 6 Stars.>

<You have a mortal enemy for the first time. From now on, both you and Zhao Fei can deal double damage to each other whenever you fight. Defeating Zhao Fei’s subordinates can yield double EXP. However, if a subordinate of Zhao Fei or Zhao Fei manages to kill you, you will lose all items in your inventory and 10% of your total levels. Then, the hatred status will decrease by one star.>

Xiaomao opened his eyes and looked around him in anxiety. He wondered where his staff of mass teleportation brought him.

In front of Xiaomao was a fleet of 15 black cog ships, anchoring by a stone shoreline where he was standing. Behind Xiaomao, Bush Cox, Meng Xin, and a hundred people that had been tied to the crucifixes earlier also looked around.

The strong salty warm wind hit their noses and faces. Then, everybody looked at the sea.

It was late morning, and the sun was still high. Although the weather was hot and humid, no one minded it at all. Some of the freed captives looked up to the sky and appreciated the sunlight. Some kissed the ground while many celebrated their freedom.

DING

A notification window appeared in front of Xiaomao.

<You have rescued 100 captives from the dungeon!>

<You have rescued Bush Cox and Meng Xin from the dungeon!>

<Congratulations! You have completed the quest – Bush Cox’s Undercover Mission, Mysterious Ritual!>

<Calculating the Contribution EXP…>

<Rescued captives = 100 x 10,000 C.EXP!>

<Rescued Bush Cox = 200,000 C.EXP!>

<Rescued Meng Xin = 200,000 C.EXP!>

<Total acquired Contribution EXP = 1,400,000!>

<Your Contribution Level has reached level 8!>

<Bush Cox is indebted to you. Current Favorability: 5 Stars!>

<Meng Xin doesn’t hate you. Current Favorability: 2 Stars!>

Xiaomao wryly laughed. He wished he had that contribution level when he used the ultimate skill earlier as he could have enslaved a priest or a cultist. But now, he had no slave candidates.

He turned around to look at the group.

Bush Cox snickered and petted Xiaomao, “Thanks, kitty. Who could have thought that I will owe you my life?”

Meng Xin snorted, “I could have escaped on my own, but this is more convenient. Anyway, I’m keeping this sword and the ring since I worked for it. You can have this bag.”

Xiaomao caught the leather bag that Meng Xin tossed at him. He opened the bag and looked inside.

DING

<You have obtained a bag of spirit stones.>

There were a hundred spirit stones inside!

Xiaomao salivated. With these stones, he could raise his levels and status once again.

Because of his good mood, Xiaomao checked the current stats of his Sacred Water.

Indeed, it filled one of his inventory slots to the brim. The grail kept producing them every second.

Xiaomao brought out three empty potion bottles and poured the sacred water into them. Then, he gave the three bottles to Meng Xin.

“Here, munya. You might need this.”

Meng Xin raised his eyebrows, “I don’t need potions. I’m… Well… WAS Samsara God. I don’t need a mortal’s help.”

“Don’t be a Vegeta, and take the gift, damn tsundere kid, munya!”

“Who’s TSUNDERE?!”

Meng Xin yelled and snatched the three sacred water bottles from Xiaomao. He opened the lit and drank one of them.

As soon as he drank the potion, he sensed the familiar power inside him. Meng Xin widened his eyes.

“Siren City’s sacred water?!” Meng Xin turned to Xiaomao and glared at him, “WHERE DID YOU GET THIS?!”

Xiaomao smirked and shrugged, “Who knows? My dad is awesome, I guess, munya!”

“You… Right. Like father, like son. I bet Mao Miaomiao would be delighted to see you again.”

DING

<Meng Xin hates the fact that you and Mao Miaomiao are relatives. Current Favorability: 1 Star.>

The favorability decreased.

Xiaomao had the urge to curse Mao Miaomiao and Meng Xin for acting mysterious. Still, as Meng Xin seemed close to his mysterious father, Xiaomao swallowed his frustration and asked him.

“Who are you, Meng Xin? Why do you know Mao Miaomiao?”

Unfortunately, Meng Xin kicked the ground and flew away, heading out to the open sea. He didn’t even listen to Xiaomao’s question.

“WAIT, MUNYA! WHO IS MAO MIAOMIAO?!”

It was too late for Xiaomao. Meng Xin left without saying goodbye after taking the potions.

Nobody, except Bush Cox, noticed that Meng Xin had trouble hiding the pitched tent under his pants. The old butler adjusted his underwear and hid the “Thing” before he directed the flow of the conversation.

“Ahem. Say, little friend. Where are we?”

Xiaomao sighed and put the matter about Meng Xin to the back of his head. He turned to look at the helpless refugees that he had rescued.

“I don’t know either, munya.”

“I thought teleportation spells required a thorough preparation and destinations. Did you prepare for the spell?”

Xiaomao dryly laughed. The teleportation indeed sent him to a random location instead of sending him to the nearest plaza or safe zone in town.

“My spell is kinda… defective, munya.”

“…”

While Xiaomao and Bush Cox looked at each other in awkward, a nostalgia noise of clattering jaws attracted their attention.

On one of the cog ships below, a certain undead pirate captain pointed his shamshir at Xiaomao.
